HE HAS A LEGACY TO SAVE…
Michael Hale's company is in jeopardy. In the wake of his father's death and transitioning to CEO, projects are circling the drain and that may cost him everything. Come to find out, the consultant hired to fix things is the "one who got away" many years ago. This time he's playing for keeps, and he intends to win.
SHE SHOULD NEVER SAY NEVER…
Elise Jackson swore she wouldn't come near Michael Hale again. He sucker punched her professionally, and he broke her heart. Still, a job’s a job, and they can both be adults. But high emotion and late nights working lead to passion neither of them can deny.
They have one week. Can the two of them pull Michael's company out of the fire and heal their old wounds?
This is only my second book by Elisabeth Staab I’ve read and I have to say that she is an author who can pull of writing two different sub-genres in the romance world and both turn out excellent.
I felt an immediate spark between Michael and Elise. All that tension from when Elise was interning at HaleStorm under Michael’s late father came to the forefront but it wasn’t obnoxious or in your face. Their progression seemed very natural and I loved watching them dancing around each other. I am a definite fan of a sexy blue collar man, but Michael was definitely holding his own. H wasn’t uptight and was really down to earth but had a good business head on his shoulders. And he was just downright sexy. 😉
Elise was great. She was unsure how seeing Michael again after all the time was going to play out and was scared out of her mind. Well maybe not scared but she damn well was nervous as hell. I would be too since he kind of stomped on her heart and messed up her career path. But she carried herself wonderfully and was happy with how well she came across.
They had to fix a major issue at HaleStorm from when Michael’s dad ran the company. The time frame they are given to complete this major feat is one week. Typically, it annoys me when people fall in love with someone after a week, but after how well they had gotten to know each other years ago and how easy it was for them to fall back into an easy flow, their love progressed at a great pace. Actually, I probably wouldn’t have minded if they were declaring their love sooner. I like them a lot and was rooting for them any chance I got.
Secondary characters were great additions to the story. I can’t wait to read the next in the series!
About the Author
Elisabeth Staab still lives with her nose in a book and at least one foot in an imaginary world. She believes that all kinds of safe and sane love should be celebrated but she adores the fantasy-filled realm of paranormal romance the best. She lives in the Washington DC area with her family and one big scaredy cat, where she loves to spend time with good friends, go dancing, collect wacky coffee mugs from which to drink her favorite beverage, and sing off-key in her kitchen (when she isn’t making characters fall in love, that is).
