A surprise inheritance reunites a mixed martial arts fighter with the woman he's never forgotten in the first in a smoldering new series from New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster…

Cannon Colter is quintessential hero material: chiseled jawline, shredded body—the works. He's also the guy who rescued Yvette Sweeny from kidnappers, only to put an end to her romantic dreams. These days, she's older, smarter, determined to face whatever life throws her way. Even the prospect of sharing a house and business with Cannon.

Cannon knew Yvette wanted him three years ago. But she was young—and some things are worth waiting for. Thrown together by her grandfather's legacy, he realizes how deep Yvette's scars really go, and how much danger lurks in their quiet town. As pent-up desire explodes between them, protecting her becomes the only fight that matters. And he'll break all the rules to do it…

I’ve been waiting for Cannon’s & Yvette’s story since the Love Undercover series and was not disappointed! This is Ms. Foster’s best work yet!!

This story begins with Cannon and Yvette coming back to their hometown to handle the aftermath of Yvette’s grandfather passing away and leaving property for both of them. It’s been three years since Yvette left town after living through a horrific ordeal where Cannon helped rescue her. She doesn’t want Cannon to still see her as the young girl who had a crush on him or as a weak female who is still dealing with nightmares. Cannon remembers Yvette being a sweet, pretty girl who liked to flirt with him, but he always thought she was too young to pursue a relationship with her. Now, three years later, both have matured and the sparks fly.

I love, love, love Cannon and Yvette together! They went through so much when they were younger, and I’m so glad Ms. Foster aged them and allowed them to mature before they found each other again. Their chemistry together is so scorching hot that I’m surprised there wasn’t steam coming from the pages! Ms. Foster is such a fabulous wordsmith and has a way of making her characters come to life.

Through the story we see Cannon is still an incredibly patient and sweet man whose natural instinct is to protect others. You can’t help but fall in love with him. While Yvette shows her stubborn streak more than once, it was refreshing to see how emotionally strong she is now and has become an independent woman. Together they are a fabulous couple!

There are so many great secondary characters introduced in this book. I like that we met such caring, loyal, hard-working Alpha men who will eventually have wonderful stories. I wish this book didn’t have to end and am really looking forward to the rest of this series.
