As an elite Alliance agent—the joint undercover operation of MI6, the British Secret Intelligence Service, and the CIA—Ford Decker lives for the adrenaline. But when he befriends sexy property manager Shay Alexander in hopes of finding her cousin, a known national security threat, Ford crosses the line, getting to know her better . . . in bed.
After being burned by her last relationship, Shay wants to take things slow. Yet she can't keep her hands off the drop-dead gorgeous hottie who's moved into her apartment building. So when Ford's identity as an undercover agent is exposed, his betrayal cuts deep. Shay never wants to see him again, but Ford can't let her go, not when her life is still in danger. He will sacrifice everything to protect her, then be prepared to walk away from the only woman he's ever loved, even if it breaks him.
I totally judge books by their covers…and this is one hot cover! I did end up reading the blurb for this one and it seemed like something straight up my alley. I was sad to say I was kind of disappointed with the story. I noticed a lot of other people had the same issue I had, which was mainly the lying. I totally understand being undercover and needing to use someone to get info, BUT I feel as if it could have been executed in a different way.
It was a slow start at the beginning but it did pick up towards the end. If we ignore the slower start and the issue mentioned above, I really enjoyed the writing and meeting the other characters. And boy howdy were there some steamy scenes! I saw a few people mentioned that there was too much sex in the book and it took away from the story…*slow blink* I’m going to have to disagree with that one. Ford and Shay were steaming up the pages of my kindle something fierce!
Although it was a rocky start, it ended up a decent story. I will totally give the second book in this series a go. I’m looking forward to West’s story!
